Nope, Address book is not the way it should be

May 14th, 2005 · No Comments

I have talked about the Address book in Tiger twice before, here and here. Now, it turns out it’s not the way I thought it was.

This is what i would like: When I add a new URL to a person’s card, whether it’s a new person or en existing, I would like to have these four in the popup menu:

  1. Del.icio.us
  2. Flickr
  3. LiveJournal
  4. Upcoming

In my post May 8th, I showed a way to add these to new cards, after a tip from Tim Buchheim. This works nicely when you add new persons to the Address book. The new URL categories I added in preferences show up on all new cards I make, like this:

AddressN1.gif

OK, so I add an URL to the homepage category, and save the card.

AddressN2.gif

Then, later I get the Del.icio.us address of the person, and want to add that. I click edit, but where did the categories I added in Preferences go?

They’re not there anymore. Clicking the popup menu does not help either:

They’re simply not there. They are only there when you add a new card, which isn’t much help.

My opinion is that I should be able to add the categories I would like to have in the popup menu. So that they’re there ever time I want to add a new URL to a person’s card.

I have submitted this to Apple’s Mac OS X feedback page.
